Gene Brixey
About Gene
Gene has over 30 years of operational and consulting experience helping small and mid-sized companies plan, procure and efficiently use capital resources in relation to IT planning and capital outlays. He has had the unique experience of leading teams on the operational aspects of finance and information technology. He regularly consults in the legal, healthcare, financial services and banking industries.
Throughout his career, Gene has been responsible for developing IT infrastructure, growth planning, technology updates and security planning. Before his involvement with HSMC Technology, Gene was CFO and Controller for both publicly held and private firms responsible for strategic partnerships, administration and operations.
Gene and his wife, Renee’, are both natives of the Kansas City area and have two children attending college currently.

About Dave
Dave is a Partner with HSMC Orizon CPAs where he enjoys focusing on working with business and individual clients who need assistance with financial and tax matters. Over the years, he has developed an expertise working with individuals and owner-managed businesses.
Over his career, Dave has built quite an extensive background working with clients in a number of industries including manufacturing and distribution, construction, real estate, professional services, non-profit organizations and service companies. Learning the nuances of each industry is enjoyable to Dave, who considers himself to be a life-long learner.
Dave’s interests outside of the office include serving in many community organizations including his local church, the Millard Rotary Club and the Omaha Chamber of Commerce.
Dave and his wife, Marilyn, have four children, and eight grandchildren.

About Gene
As managing partner and client service partner of HSMC Orizon, Gene wears many hats, including working with business, governmental and non-profit clients in addition to his leadership of the firm.
After working with a national firm, KPMG in Omaha, Gene decided to join a small group of professionals who eventually launched Orizon in 1989. He became managing partner of that firm in 2007.
Gene believes every client is best served when they understand how their finances affect their life and take a proactive approach to planning and managing this area of life. By doing this, it allows them to focus on utilizing their unique abilities and fulfill their life purpose.
Not only does Gene give back to the Omaha community, he devotes time to helping the accounting profession by serving on boards and committees with both state and national organizations.
A Wyoming native, Gene frequently visits to his home state along with his wife and three children. You also might find Gene on the golf course when he has free time.

Gary A. Hawkins CPA CGMA
About Gary
As Chairman of HSMC Orizon LLC, Gary wears many hats. This includes working with clients to assist them in complex tax and estate planning as well as business management consulting.
After Gary began his career working with a national firm, Ernst and Whinney (now known as Ernst & Young) in Kansas City, Gary joined a small firm with offices in Harrisonville and Lee’s Summit as a tax consultant. He learned that his real passion was working with owner managed businesses and decided to start a firm in order to continue that work. The beginnings of HSMC Companies was formed and that firm grew from three employees to the twenty that have joined with Orizon to form HSMC Orizon, LLC.
Gary feels that clients have the best opportunity to grow their wealth when they completely understand and are educated on the impact their business and their financial choices have on their overall financial plan.
Gary believes in the importance of being a good corporate citizen and currently serves on various boards and other organizations that benefit the community.
In his spare time, Gary enjoys time spent with his family and being active in his church. He also enjoys hunting and fishing when his schedule permits.

Rosalie is a Partner with HSMC Orizon where she enjoys working with business owners and individual clients providing guidance in making sound financial and business decisions.
Rosalie has worked with clients in a number of industries including retail, manufacturing, construction, professional services, and non-profit organizations.
Rosalie’s activities outside of the office include serving in many community organizations including her local church and Pro Deo Youth Center. She is the Past-President of the Lee’s Summit Sunrise Rotary Club and the Chair of the Board for Lee’s Summit Chamber of Commerce. She also serves as Treasurer for Velocity Lee’s Summit, a non-profit corporation supporting local entrepreneurs.

About Jodi
Jodi brings over 20 years of experience primarily focused on assurance services. Whether it’s the education, government or manufacturing industry, Jodi is at ease not only with the engagement, but helping clients understand what is behind the financial statements and reports. She understands how your organization’s core values come into play with your business objectives. She is instrumental with keeping engagements running smoothly which includes management of HSMC Orizon’s assurance teams.
Jodi puts just as much energy outside of work as she does with her clients during the day. She is active with various organizations in Omaha, especially CREW Omaha Metro and Omaha Academy of Ballet. In 2008, Jodi was recognized as a 40 Under 40 Midland, Business Journal Award winner.

Tim Coach – Technology
About Tim Coach, Vice President, HSMC Orizon Technology LLC
Tim started out his professional career serving his country in the United States Army. Shortly after Airborne School, he was deployed to combat zones in the Middle East. He spent the next several years in the military, stationed at various bases throughout the world. This is where Tim learned the true value of teamwork, how each member contributes, and why each is critical to the overall success of the team.
From there Tim spent the next few years searching for his next career. During this time, he worked in industries that specialized in hazard waste removal, distribution, construction, and manufacturing. Tim found in each of these environments that success was always dependent on the team and not just a single individual or step.
In 2000, Tim decided to pursue his degree at DeVry in Kansas City, MO. While attending DeVry, Tim interned at the Harley Davidson Plant in North Kansas City. Upon graduation, he worked as the Senior Systems engineer for KCG, Inc., a nationwide company in the construction supply and distribution business. After several years of being the customer, Tim moved to the Managed Service Provider side of IT. Tim brought his perspective as a customer to the vendor side of the business in order to provide best-in-class customer service to his MSP clients.

About Phil
Phil is a Principal with HSMC Orizon. Originally from Ohio, Phil has been working with clients in the Kansas City area for more than 20 years.
Phil works in various industries and has extensive experience with owner-managed businesses and real estate partnerships. He focuses on tax compliance and tax planning services. Phil enjoys working closely with clients; learning more about their business; and helping them make informed tax decisions that will improve the overall health of their company.
Phil and his wife enjoy traveling and have many places on their bucket list to visit. Away from the office, you’ll likely find him at a Jr. ROTC event where he supports his daughter’s involvement.

About John
John is a Principal and Senior Tax Manager with HSMC Orizon. Before moving to Omaha, John worked in private industry and for a CPA firm in St. Louis.
“Part of what excites me about working at HSMC Orizon is that I can build great relationships with clients. I really enjoy explaining a tax issue or a challenge to a client in a simple way so they understand how it will impact their business,” says John.
He works with individuals and businesses to provide tax planning and compliance services. He also has experience with estate and gift tax, trust and tax exempt organizations.
When he isn’t helping a client, John spends his time training for running events and working on his golf game.

About Rand
Rand merged his accounting firm, G. Randall Hansen, CPA, PC, with HSMC Orizon in November 2012. He brings over 30 years of public accounting experience to the firm and will continue his work with clients to assist them with tax and estate planning, accounting and business consultation.
Rand has served in a variety of leadership roles with the AICPA and Nebraska Society of CPAs over the years. He currently serves on the Independence and Behavioral Standards subcommittee of the Professional Ethics Executive Committee (PEEC), the Non-authoritative Literature Task Force of the PEEC Codification Project, the Nebraska Society of CPA’s Professional Eithics Committee, the Journal of Accountancy Member Advisor Panel, the AICPA’s Virtual Grassroots Panel and the Private Financial Reporting Committee Resource Group.
Rand has been a regular speaker for SCORE, the non-profit arm of the SBA, and for the IRS for many years. He has also been a speaker at the Annual Mid-American Accounting and Auditing Conference and is a frequent speaker and instructor for various community and service groups.
A highly respected CPA in the Omaha community and Nebraska CPA profession, Rand was recently honored with the 2012 Distinguished Service to the Profession award from the Nebraska Society of CPAs.

Adam Pfeiffer CPA
About Adam
Adam was recently promoted to Client Service Manager in May of 2017 and will manage client relationships and teams with a focus on tax compliance, planning and related services to individuals and small to mid-size businesses. He will also continue to provide assurance services including compilations, reviews and audited financial statements. Adam has prior experience with both public accounting and private industry.
Adam is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and received a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
When he is not assisting clients, Adam can be found on the golf course, spending time with family and rooting on the Huskers.

Isaac joined our team as Client Service Manager in May of 2017 and will manage client relationships and teams with a focus on tax compliance, planning and related services to individuals and small to mid-size businesses. Luke Templin CPA
About Luke
Luke was recently promoted to Manager of Accounting Services in May of 2017 after joining HSMC Orizon in 2016. Luke joined the firm after relocating to Omaha with prior experience in both public accounting and private industry. He leads our accounting services team which includes outsourced payroll and accounting, design and training on accounting systems, and outsourced controller and CFO services. He will also assist with assurance services and attest projects for our clients.
Luke is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and received a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Accounting from the University of Kansas.

Josh is a Client Service Manager with HSMC Orizon and has been working for the firm since December 2015. Before working with HSMC Orizon, he worked for another local CPA in Omaha for 15 years. Over the years he has worked with a variety of industries, including manufacturing, real estate, construction, non-profits, and local governments.
Josh’s main focus is providing tax compliance and related services to individual and small to mid-size businesses. He also provides assurance services including compilations, reviews, and audited financial statements.
